WHAT IS KAZAZIYE?
Kazaziye is a traditional Anatolian jewelry art with a history dating back to 3000 BC. Passed down through generations from ancient civilizations such as the Lydians to the people of Anatolia, it remains a treasured cultural heritage today.
This unique craft is created entirely by hand using 999 fine silver. Ultra thin silver wire approximately 0.08 mm thick, as fine as a strand of human hair, is carefully wrapped around a delicate silk core using a small spinning wheel.
The entire process is completed without the use of any power tools. Every detail is shaped, braided, and woven completely by hand.
The finished Kazaziye wire is typically 3 to 5 mm thick. It is flexible yet highly durable. Thanks to its intricate braided structure, it does not break easily and maintains its elegant form.
Today, this centuries-old tradition continues in Trabzon, Anatolia, where skilled artisans, especially local women, hand braid each piece with patience and precision.
